For the first time in forever, the weather is going to be AMAZING! However, it’s also a BIG weekend full of parades everywhere so a lot of us are DONE by Mardi Gras Day. So for those of you that don’t want to brave the crowds or you’re just paraded out, we put together this list of Mardi Gras Day alternatives!

Pizza and Games
If you like pizza and games and fun! Chuck E Cheese is open from 11am – 9pm
This is what our family will be doing on Mardi Gras Day! We will be renting movies via Amazon and having a movie day. The Grand at the Esplanade and The Palace theaters in Elmwood are also open that day!
Take a Road Trip
Tuesday is just another day in a lot of places. Why not take a day trip to the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola or to the beach for some playing in the sand? Global Wildlife on the Northshore is open for the day, weather permitting. Lynn Meadows Discovery Center in Gulfport is open from 10am – 5pm. Pick a location and go explore!
Sector6 in Elmwood is open from 9am-9pm on Mardi Gras Day!
Make Your Own Parade
Make some shoebox floats like we all did as kids, you can even make some cute crafts like a shaker bottle, masks, and jester hats. Read some books about Mardi Gras. Watch the parades on TV while eating DIY Mini King Cakes and exploring our Mardi Gras Parade Activity Pack!
Both Laser Tag of Metairie and Adventure Quest in Elmwood will open at 11am for play time. Laser Tag of Metairie is offering unlimited Laser Tag from 11am – 4pm for $20 (must be 7 years of age and 48 inches tall to play). Adventure Quest in Elmwood is offering a $20 unlimited laser tag, bumper cars and cosmic golf special. Area 51 Laser Tag on the Westbank will be open from noon-9pm. They also have a Mardi Gras Day Pass for unlimited Laser Tag from noon-6pm for $20.
Take A Hike Or Play At The Park
If the weather cooperates and you still want to get away from the parades, both City Park and Lafrienere Park will have their playgrounds open. Morning Call in City Park will also be open. Both are great places for a picnic, a hike and some play time. Fountainebleau and Tickfaw State Parks on the Northshore will also be open for the day.
The outlet malls in Gonzales are open on Mardi Gras Day! Take a day trip, check out the deals and then have Cracker Barrel for lunch before heading home.
