One can never have too many king cake options. When I had heard this was a possibility I had to try it myself…it was the perfect DIY type activity at our house recently! Needing just two things essentially, you can have 4 mini king cakes in 10 minutes! Here’s how…
First things first, preheat that oven to 375*!
Using ONE can of flaky Pillsbury Grand Cinnamon Roll tube, unroll each cinnamon roll making “strips”… take two strips at a time and lightly “braid” them and once done, form them into a mini circle, pinching the ends to keep its shape…do this 3 more times and you will have 4 mini king cakes ready for baking! Pop those in for 10-15 minutes.
**Tip: mine only took 10 min, you do not want them burnt at all**
While your baby cakes cool off, take the icing the cinnamon rolls came with and put into a small mixing bowl, add 2 tsp of milk, 1/4 cup of confectioners (powdered sugar) and mix well creating your icing.
**Tip: Is you icing a bit runny? Add some more sugar, but not too much! Is your icing too thick? Add some more milk! Everyone’s will vary depending on how long your icing was sitting out in the kitchen.**
When they’re COMPLETELY cooled, drizzling as much desired icing onto each cake…be sure to either do this on a cookie sheet or place something under your cooling rack as icing will run! Once the icing has set, decorate your king cake with purple/green/gold sprinkles, edible glitter, icing, pecans and more!
