It’s that time of year and your family wants to attend a parade. But where do you want to catch it? We give you the 411 on the best parade spots in Jefferson Parish.
Best Parade Spots in Jefferson Parish
Most Metairie parades start at El Dorado and Houma. You can catch these parades all along the small strip of Houma before Veterans. Since this is the beginning of the parade, you shouldn’t have trouble getting out when it is over. There is also a small convenience store nearby for snacks and drinks.
Barnes and Noble
This is one of my favorite family friendly spots to catch parades. You can stop in for a latte or a pastry prior to the parade. Barnes and Noble also has the advantage of a back exit to the parking lot if you want to leave early. Just try to get there early; the parking lot fills up fast.
2900 Block of Veterans
This stretch of road is across from Rouses and Kmart. This is a great spot because you can duck into the store before the parade passes and stock up on some goodies. Just be prepared for a long wait time for the restrooms.
Emile and Gelpi
If you plan on attending the Driftwood parade in Kenner, I’ve been advised that the corner of Emile and Gelpi is a good spot. The area in front of the club is also ideal, as they sell refreshments. Keep in mind that that spot will be slightly crowded.
