Jefferson Parish Public Schools finish the year on Friday, May 26th and start school on Thursday, August 10th. In between there are 75 days of “I’m bored”, “can we do something” to deal with. We thought we would help by giving you a summer of FUN! We have a list of 75 days of summer fun for Jefferson Parish Kids Kids. That’s an activity a day for the whole summer.

May Fun For Jefferson Parish Kids
27th – Movies in the Park – Watch Sing on a 25ft movie screen in Kenner’s Heritage Park! Bring your lawn chair and blanket! However, no pets or outside food and drinks allowed! Showtime is at 8pm.*
28th – New Orleans Baby Cakes vs Oklahoma City – 6pm. Today is Funday Sunday 4-for-$44, four game tickets, four hot dogs, four small sodas, a souvenir program and a $5 coupon to use in the ‘Cakes Shop for just $44. You can also play catch on the field before the game and get player autographs in the team shop.
29th – Get Snowballs – Start the first week of summer off with snowballs from your favorite snowball stand.
30th – Craft Night – Make paper dragons at the West Bank Regional Library from 6-7pm. *
31st – Cool Zoo – visit the Audubon Zoo and cool off in the Lazy River and Cool Zoo.
June Fun For Jefferson Parish Kids
1st – Hispanic Family Night – Chick Fil A Kenner from 6-8 pm. *
2nd – Dinner and a Zoovie – Watch Moana at the Audubon Zoo. Doors will open at 6:00pm and movie goers are welcome to picnic by the Capital One Stage until the movies start at about 8:15-8:30pm. There will be dance party from 7:15pm to 8:15pm. Come with your chairs and blankets and bring your own dinner if you like. All shows are $6 per person, (children under two years of age are free) and you’re welcome to bring chairs and blankets. No glass containers, open candles or pets, please. All films will be shown outside at the Capital One Stage and Field inside Audubon Zoo. You can also purchase a Cool Zoo/Zoovie Combo for $12 person
3rd – Librarypalooza – Kick off the Jefferson Parish Library’s Summer Reading Program with fun from 10 am – 12:15 pm at the East Bank Regional Library. *
4th –Woldenburg Riverfront Park – Enjoy the Mississippi and play in the fountains in front of the aquarium. *
5th – Aquavan – Ages 4 and up can meet animals from the aquarium at the East Jefferson Library Jefferson & Napoleon Rooms from 10-11 am. Registration is required for groups of 5 or more by calling 849-8813. *
6th – Bugmobile – Children can have an up-close encounters with arthropods from their backyard and around the world at the Belle Terre Library from 11 am – 12 pm. *
7th – Porta Puppet Players – Children can see the Porta Puppet Players “Cooking with the Frog Princess” at the West Bank Regional Library Meeting Room from 11 am – 12 pm. *
8th – Sky Zone – Head over to Sky Zone and jump it out!
9th – Prytania Kids Series – Watch Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales at the Prytania Theater at 10 am. Cost is $6 and includes movie, popcorn & drink.
10th – Creole Tomato Festival – Head down to the French Market for the Creole Tomato Festival from 10 am – 7 pm. *
11th – Family Equality Day – Pack a picnic basket and join Longue Vue House and Gardens from 10 am – 1 pm for its annual Family Equality Day celebrating the LGBT parenting and family community in New Orleans.
12th – Javier Juarez – Kids can get fit and learn to dance at the Wagner Library from 2-3 pm. *
13th – Lafreniere Park – feed the ducks, have a picnic and splash around in the spray park. Cost for the spray park is $5 per person per 90-minute session charge, cash and exact change only. Spray Park hours are Noon until 7:00 pm all week.
14th – NOMA – Visit the New Orleans Museum of Art, which is free on Wednesdays for Louisiana residents.
15th –Medieval Architecture Storytime – Children can listen to A Year In A Castle by Rachel Coombs and make castles from 3-4 pm at the Harahan Library. *
16th – Prytania Kids Series – Watch Cars 3 at the Prytania Theater at 10 am. Cost is $6 and includes movie, popcorn & drink.
17th – Father’s Day Storytime – Storytime and Activities based on the story When Daddies Don’t Grow Up at Barnes and Noble Metairie and Westbank at 11 am . *
18th – Happy Father’s Day – spend the day with dad!
19th – Matt Noel – Magic, yo-yos, juggling, and comedy at the Westwego Library Meeting Room from 10:30 – 11:30 am. *
20th – Wetland Express – Take a trip down to Grand Isle for an up-close experience with our wetland’s most important inhabitants at the Grand Isle Library from 10:30 – 11:30 am. *
21st – City Park – play in the amusement park, Storyland and City Putt and have beignets at Morning Call.
22nd – Summer Kid’s Flicks – Watch Storks at The Grand in Kenner as part of their Summer Kid’s Flicks series. Summer movies for only $4. Price includes popcorn and a drink. Showtime is at 10am.
23rd – Grenta Friday Night Bike Ride – Ride along the levee in the City of Gretna for the Friday Night EZ Bike Ride. Starts at Riverfront and Huey P. Long Ave at 8pm*
24th – Eat a Bug – Visit the Audubon Butterfly Garden and Insectarium and stop by the cafe for some buggy cookies and treats.
25th – Madagascar Jr. – Watch Madagascar Jr at the Jefferson Performing Arts Center at 2 pm.
26th – Zoomobile – Children can explore the wonders of the natural world by interactive presentation and hands-on animal encounters at the Lakeshore Library from 11 am – 12 pm. *
27th – Tales With A Twist – Storytime with audience participation and movement at the Live Oak Library from 1 – 2 pm. *
29th – Go Skating – Kids Skate FREE all summer long at the Airline Skate Center! Must register in advance – select dates/times vary.*
30th – Hey Now Hooping – A one hour interactive hula hoop program from 10:30 – 11:30 am in the Westbank Regional Library Meeting Room. *
July Fun For Jefferson Parish Kids
1st – Prytania Kids Series – Watch The Secret Life of Pets at the Prytania Theater at 10 am. Cost is $6 and includes movie, popcorn & drink.
2nd – Laser Tag – Beat the heat with a game of Laser Tag at Laser Tag and Games of Metairie.
3rd – Uncle Sam Jam – Music and fireworks at Lafreniere Park. *
4th – 4th of July – Celebrate 4th of July at the Shrine on Airline. Watch the Baby Cakes play Omaha at 6pm and stay for fireworks after the game.
5th – Lady Chops – Elizabeth Vidos presents her program titled “Drum Roll Please”. It’s an energetic, interactive and fun for all ages as she incorporates over 15 different instruments including buckets, body percussion and the Cajun rubboard. West Bank Regional Library Meeting Room from 10:30 – 11:30 am. *
6th – Ogden Museum Of Southern Art – Explore the museum which is free on Thursdays for Louisiana residents. *
7th – Mardi Gras World – Learn the history of Mardi Gras and have fun on the Mississippi River at Mardi Gras World.
8th – Westbank Fleamarket – Explore the new Westbank Fleamarket in Harvey.
9th – Contemporary Arts Center – Free admission for Louisiana residents on Sundays – kids through Grade 12 are FREE everyday!*
10th – Kids’ Yoga – Kids can participate in a yoga class especially designed for them at the Lakeshore Library from 10:30-11:30 am. *
11th – Porta Puppet Players – Children can see the Porta Puppet Players “The Alice Adventures” at the Belle Terre Library from 11 am – 12 pm. *
12th – Palm Tree Playground – Beat the heat at Palm Tree Playground.
13th – Rocking Around Louisiana – Dave James performs a music program that focuses on the history of music in Louisiana, and the special cultural significance that music plays in our daily lives here at the North Kenner Library from 1 – 2 pm. *

20th – Ronald McDonald – A fun and interactive program with Ronald McDonald at the Westwego Library from 1-2 pm. *
21st – The Little Mermaid – See The Little Mermaid performed at the Rivertown Theater for the Performing Arts at 7:30 pm.
22nd – Street Car Ride – Ride the street car down St. Charles Ave or from the River to City Park.
24th – Irwin Royes – “World’s Smallest Magician” performs his magical show at the Westbank Regional Library from 10:30 – 11:30 am. *
25th – Animal Habitats Storytime – Discover animal habitats by listening to the story A PERFECT DAY by Lane Smith and making a Cheerio bird feeder at the Old Metairie Library from 10:30 – 11:30 am. *
26th – Summer Kid’s Flicks – Watch Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2 at The Grand in Kenner as part of their Summer Kid’s Flicks series. Summer movies for only $4. Price includes popcorn and a drink. Showtime is at 10am.
27th – Space Exploration Storytime – Learn about space by listening to 3:2:1 Liftoff! A Lego Adventure by Sonia Sander and If You Decide To Go To The Moon by Faith McNulty and make bottle rockets at the Harahan Library from 3-4 pm. *
29th – Prytania Kids Series – Watch The Wizard of Oz at the Prytania Theater at 10 am. Cost is $6 and includes movie, popcorn & drink.
30th – Road Trip – Take a road trip to one of these destinations that are only 3 hours or less from Jefferson Parish.
31st – Aquarium of the Americas – Feed a bird , say hi to the penguins and watch the fish at the aquarium
August Fun For Jefferson Parish Kids
1st – Summer Kid’s Flicks – Watch Hotel Transylvania 2 at The Grand in Kenner as part of their Summer Kid’s Flicks series. Summer movies for only $4. Price includes popcorn and a drink. Showtime is at 10am.
2nd – Posh Paint Pub – Paint your own pottery at Posh Paint Pub.
3rd – Bookoo Bounce – Bounce at BooKoo Bounce!
4th – Global Wildlife Center – Feed the giraffes at Global Wildlife Center.
5th – Jean Lafitte National Park – Take a hike through Jean Lafitte National Park.
6th – National WWII Museum – Take a trip back to the 1940’s and learn about WWII at the National WWII Museum. Be sure to get a treat at the soda shop.
9th – LAST DAY OF SUMMER – Celebrate with donuts at Bakers’ Dozen!
